This blog is pretty much a perpetual cycle of Sherlock Holmes, British shows & people, Victorian things, Sherlock Holmes, fandom things, did I mention Sherlock Holmes?

Hi sorry I know I’m apparently very late to the party and you’ve probably read 8347398 opinions on this already.
So, Lucy Liu as Watson.
I seriously was not expecting that casting choice. At all.
Once the shock settled in I got to thinking: “Well, shit. Did they make Watson a female to make her the love interest?” I really hope that’s not what they’re intending to do because, fuck, I think it’ll cheapen it. And, no, I would not want BBC!Sherlock/John to be canon either. Why should they ruin the incredible friendships Holmes and Watson have in any adaptation?
But, you know, I’m okay with this. I think it’ll be interesting. It’s good to have something different.
But I think I would have preferred:
a) Sherlock was a woman too
b) Watson is still ex-army (would they really be so hard to add?)
All Watsons are BAMFs, so if they demean the characterization of Liu’s Watson, well, I’ll punch CBS collectively in the face write a strongly worded letter.
